New Stations

A big welcome to the NPM family goes out to KXSW FM! They went on the air on 6/8/11. They are located at the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate College in Agency Village near Sisseton, South Dakota.

Within the next three years, the Native radio system will double adding 30 plus new stations across 20 or more states including Hawaii!

To advance media access in Native America, Native Public Media led a 2007 campaign encouraging Native Tribes and organizations to submit applications to launch new public radio stations via the FCC’s Non-Commercial Educational (NCE) filing window. The campaign resulted in 51 applications from 37 Native applicants, showing strong interest in expanded media access and participation. The organizations listed below have received construction permits and will be adding their unique voice to the Native radio system.
