NPM, FCC and NCAI to Host Tribal Broadcast Radio and Broadband Spectrum Workshop October 20, 2019

NPM, FCC and NCAI announces the Tribal Broadcast Radio and Broadband Spectrum Workshop in Albuquerque, NM, on October 20, 2019. The Workshop coincides with the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) Annual Convention and Marketplace and will be collocated at the Albuquerque Convention Center, 401 2nd Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. This event is designed to provide information that will help Tribal Nations identify and evaluate opportunities to develop robust radio broadcast services in Tribal communities, and to highlight current and upcoming wireless spectrum opportunities that can enable Tribes to develop more robust broadband infrastructure and services.

FCC staff will provide presentations on important FCC programs and policies that support the deployment of broadcast radio services in Tribal communities. Broadcast radio services can play a vital role in preparing for and recovering from emergencies, preserving Native culture, language and music, and conveying important information to Tribal members. In addition, FCC staff will provide information on the upcoming rural Tribal Priority Window in the 2.5 GHz spectrum band, as well as new spectrum opportunities under consideration that may promote broadband access on Tribal lands.

The Workshop is particularly targeted to Tribal government leaders, but Tribal IT managers, government and community planners and managers, and representatives of Tribal emergency service organizations are all persons who should consider attending this event.

Registration is free. To register, please send your name, title, Tribal affiliation and contact information to Tribalradiosummit@fcc.gov.
