Protecting Public Media

As early as August 13, the Senate will debate the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS-Education) and Defense bills.
How does this impact public media including radio stations?
The movement of the bills and any amendments could cut funding for public media. Specifically, if an amendment is proposed to eliminate or cut funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Ready To Learn or Interconnection.
Public media needs your help by contacting your lawmakers and advocating for opposition to proposals to cut funding, and the support for public funding. An amendment would be considered a significant threat and it is important to leverage and mobilize your networks.
NPM will provide additional information for how to take action as August 13 approaches. All stations will need to be engaged if an amendment is filed. The goal is to ensure that as many communications as possible are sent to congressional offices.
