7th Annual Andy Harvey Native American Broadcast Workshop Seeks Student Applicants
FLAGSTAFF, AZ - The Andy Harvey Native American Broadcast Workshop is accepting applications for the 7th annual workshop. This workshop encourages Native American high school students to work together to tell the stories that are most important to them and their communities, and gives students the tools to take that first step.
The workshop runs from June 17-23, 2018.
Participants will stay on the Northern Arizona University campus and work in the School of Communication’s Student Media Center newsroom alongside NAU students and broadcast journalism professionals. Students will produce multimedia audio stories, shoot astrophotography time-lapses, and produce a live-to-tape television news broadcast covering the day’s local news.
Only twenty-five students will be admitted. First preference will go to high school juniors and seniors who complete the application.
The tuition for this workshop is $50, which pays for a six-night stay in a residence hall and all meals, as well as a wonderful lifetime experience. Full tuition scholarships are available for those who qualify.
To apply students should go to www.nativeamericanbroadcastworkshop.org and complete and submit the application. The application deadline is April 1, 2018. If a student does not have internet access, they may call 928-523-2232 to request an application be mailed to them or if they have questions. Questions may also be addressed toPaul.Helford@nau.edu.
