Blackwell and Rantanen to Join FCC at NCAI Winter Session

WASHINGTON, DC – NPM Board Chair Blackwell and Treasurer Rantanen, who are also co- chairs of Telecommunications Subcommittee for the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) will attend the NCAI Winter Session in Washington, D.C on February 12-15, 2018. Confirmed speakers include U.S.Department of the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs SecretaryDavid Shulkin, U.S. Department of Justice Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Congressman Don Young.

Blackwell and Rantanen will also attend the Federal Communications Commission’s Tribal leaders meeting with FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, new Chief of the Office of Native Affairs and Policy Matthew Duchesne, the Wireless Bureau, the Wireline Bureau, and the Rural Broadband Auctions Taskforce.

NPM has a strong communications/telecommunications Policy Program focused on spectrum opportunities, Net Neutrality and Media policies that advance media access, control and ownership among Native Americans.
