"Voice of the Lakota Nation" 40 Years of KILI Radio


RAPID CITY – Officially KILI Radio first went on the air on February 25, 1883, Calvin Two Lance was the first DJ and he spoke in both Lakota and English; this year the station will celebrate their 40th in Rapid City on the evening of Friday, February 24 at Oaye Luta Okolakiciye in the old Northgate/Kmart shopping center – there will be a meal, recognition and awards presentation, a hand drum contest, a poetry slam, a short film, a presentation from the Black Hills Water Alliance and social dancing. Chris Eagle Hawk is the eyapaha and Creekside the host drum.
